Roof Repair, Restoration and Replacement in Bountiful, Utah

Bountiful has the oldest housing in Davis County and some of its heaviest snowfall. Its roofs have usually been through a replacement or two. This is a service area, not an office.

A 1970s city with an earlier core

The ACS (2020–2024) puts Bountiful’s median home at 1973. By our arithmetic, about 63% of its 15,585 housing units were built before 1980, about 27% before 1960 and only about 13% since 2000, the oldest profile of any Davis County city we cover. About 71% of occupied homes are owner-occupied. The city covers 13.2 square miles.

Homes this age are often on a second or third roof, sometimes with layers of old shingles underneath. That is worth asking about in any bid: how many layers are there, what is the decking like, and what will be done about ventilation? More snow than the valley floor

NOAA’s 1991–2020 normals for Bountiful–Val Verda (about 4,540 feet) record about 22.6 inches of precipitation and 52.4 inches of snow a year, about 118 days at or below 32°F, about 41 days at 90°F or more and under 2 days at 100°F or more. That is among the cooler summers on our Davis County list, and one of the snowiest. Davis County’s planning office notes that lake-effect snow can bring roughly 60 inches to the valley floor and up to 90 inches on the high benches. The September 2020 windstorm

The Standard-Examiner reported that the worst damage in Davis County on September 8, 2020, ran from Layton to North Salt Lake, a stretch that includes Bountiful, and Davis County reported cleanup beginning that day, with the Bountiful and Layton landfills temporarily waiving green-waste fees. Repair, restore, or replace

  • Repair for flashing, boots and storm damage.
  • GoNano restoration may suit a sound but aging asphalt roof; many older Bountiful homes will need an honest look at layers and decking first.
  • Replacement when a roof has failed. See roof replacement or restoration in Utah.
