Roof Repair, Restoration and Replacement in Clinton, Utah

Repair, Restore, or Replace. The NuRoof Guys, a licensed Utah roofing contractor, give Clinton homeowners a free roof inspection and a straight answer about which of the three your roof actually needs.

From "The Range" to one of the newest housing stocks in Davis County

Clinton City's own history says the area was settled in the 1870s by James Hill and his family, back when it was part of Layton. Locals called it The Range, Sand Ridge, The Basin and The Summit. Clinton became a town in 1936 and stayed small for decades: 670 people in 1950. Then it took off, to 5,777 in 1980 and 15,125 in 2000. The Census counted 20,426 residents in 2010 and 23,386 in 2020.

That growth curve shows up on the roofs. Census estimates for 2020–2024 put the median Clinton home at the year 2000, and about half of its housing units were built in 2000 or later. Few homes here predate 1980. Clinton covers about 5.9 square miles between Roy to the north, Sunset to the east, and West Point to the south and west. Most of it is single-family subdivisions, plus half-acre Agricultural Estates lots on the west side, such as the Willow Flats subdivision and Harrisburg Country Estates, both named in the city's planning records. Most Clinton homes are owner-occupied, so most roof decisions here are made by the family living underneath.

Clinton weather and what the city publishes

Clinton sits at about 4,400 feet on the valley floor (USGS). Clinton City's design criteria sheet (revised July 1, 2026) lists a 105 mph design wind speed for conventional construction, residential exposure B, seismic zone D-2 and a 30-inch frost depth. It doesn't print one snow-load number. It points builders to Utah State University's ground snow load map, so the design snow load depends on your exact address. Those are design values for new construction, not predictions about your roof.

Recent weather is a good reminder of what roofs here deal with. When the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel moved through in October 2026, the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City logged 1.45 inches of rain in Clinton and gusts of 44 mph at nearby Hill Air Force Base. In winter, Utah's Department of Environmental Quality notes that inversions often follow a snowstorm: cold air gets trapped near the valley floor under warmer air, and a typical Utah winter sees about five to six multi-day episodes. Long cold stretches with snow on the roof are when homeowners start asking about ice along the eaves. Our guide to ice dams and freeze-thaw on Northern Utah roofs explains what causes them and what to fix inside the attic first.

On a newer roof, the question is usually "is this normal?"

Most Clinton roofs aren't old enough for restoration to be the topic yet. What we hear about instead: granules in the gutters after a new install, a ridge vent that whistles, a lifted tab after a windy night, a pipe boot that's starting to crack, or a stain on the ceiling after a long soak like Rachel. Some granule shedding on new shingles is normal. Our post on asphalt shingle granule loss in Utah explains what's normal and what isn't.

You don't need to get on a ladder to check. From the ground, look for missing or lifted shingle pieces, dented gutters or vents, and granules piling up at downspout outlets. Inside, look for new ceiling stains. Leave the roof itself to a professional with fall protection.

Repair, Restore, or Replace in Clinton

Repair. On a newer Clinton roof, repair is usually the right call: a cracked pipe boot, loose flashing, a few wind-lifted shingles, or a vent detail that's letting water in. We fix the specific failure and show you photos of the before and after. See roof repair.

Restore (GoNano). GoNano roof treatments are for aging asphalt shingle roofs that are still structurally sound. The GoNano white paper describes the system as "a cold-applied, nano-engineered treatment designed to penetrate below the shingle surface" (p. 4), rather than a film that sits on top. Restoration is not right for every roof, and a brand-new roof isn't a candidate yet. The inspection decides. When a roof qualifies, the warranty is up to 15 years on qualified roofs, backed by a GoNano warranty. Ask us for the written terms. The NuRoof Guys are an authorized GoNano installer. Read how to tell if your roof is a rejuvenation candidate, the GoNano FAQ, or our page on authorized GoNano installation in Utah. GoNano is a trademark of its owner.

Replace. When shingles, decking or flashing have failed, or storm damage is too widespread to repair, replacement is the honest answer, and we'll tell you so. See roof replacement.

Clinton roof FAQ

Who repairs and restores roofs in Clinton, Utah?

The NuRoof Guys, a licensed Utah roofing contractor (license #14225732-5501) and authorized GoNano installer, serve Clinton and the rest of Utah, from St. George to the top of the state. Every job starts with a free roof inspection.

Is my newer Clinton roof a candidate for GoNano restoration?

Usually not yet. GoNano roof treatments are meant for aging shingles that are still structurally sound, and most Clinton roofs are newer than that. A free inspection documents your roof's condition now, so it's easier to spot changes later.

How do I know whether to repair, restore, or replace?

Book a free inspection. We check shingles, flashing, vents, pipe boots and valleys, photograph what we find, and give you a written recommendation: repair for isolated problems, restoration for sound but aging shingles, or replacement when the roof has failed.

Is GoNano a roof coating?

No. Film-forming coatings sit on top of the shingle. The GoNano white paper describes a treatment designed to penetrate below the shingle surface. It is not a fix for a failed roof, which is why we inspect first.

What warranty comes with GoNano restoration?

Up to 15 years on qualified roofs, backed by a GoNano warranty. Coverage depends on your roof and the work done, so ask us for the written terms with your proposal.

Should I check my roof myself after a windstorm?

Only from the ground. Look for shingle pieces in the yard, dented gutters or vents, and new ceiling stains, and take dated photos. Don't climb a ladder or walk the roof. Our Utah homeowners insurance roof checklist shows what to document.
